Digipak
This is our completed Digipak.
This is the final digipack that I created for our band. Working from the feedback from the class I made the top and bottom half look like the same digigpack with a colour theme, not make the design of it all indie or dark (just my personal style coming through) and designing something that actually works for the bands image and brand.
For the background I used a still from the video of the blue sky hence the slight gradient of lighter blue to darker blue, this immediately gave the digipack an energy that it didn't have before and a more vibrant visual - just like the band has.
I then went on to use the bands colours across the whole digipack, something that we created early on within the project was for each man in the band to have their own colour representing them and that can spread across all the media for the band.
These colours are clearly displayed straight away as representing the individual members of the band on the front cover as the colour of their handprint faces is the only colour on them. This edit on the bandmates was done two different ways, Olly and JK's (right and centre) were done on Premiere Pro in the edit, using the video effect "Leave Colour" and then playing with the effect settings to find what worked for that frame. Harry (Left) was more difficult to get a clean distinguishing blue against grey, his skin colour still coming though in places I think because of lighting being different across the face. So what I did was duplicate the layer of the image on Photoshop and then turn one layer Black and White while the original image layer underneath remained in colour and then I used the "Background Eraser" tool, whilst the black and white layer was selected, to erase the black and white filter/layer on the hand print on the face to reveal the coloured handprint. I then merged the layers so I could select Harry's head and shoulders to copy him over to the front cover.

Evaluation Question 4: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Our music video was aimed at all the teen ages and can range up to low 20's. We also showed people that where of a higher age range and most enjoyed to view out video. so there is a big range that it can appeal to. We found the range we aimed at was a classic pop and dance age range.also similar songs and artists have the same sort of age range.
Below is a presentation showing examples of our primary and secondary audience:
Near the end of November to start of December we finished our first draft of our music video and we got feedback on the viewing which helped us develop out music video further and move out the bad parts and add in new improved parts. We had a clear idea what we need to improve before our final piece was presented and finalised.
This is some of the feedback we received...
From this feedback we decided to make a few changes with the out of focus shot being replaced by the folder and coffee cup hitting the floor. We corrected the camera shaking by editing it on premier also the end shot was.
We also got feedback of ur digipack..Here is some of the feedback we got (hover over image then over the red and white circles).
We knew that we needed to change a few parts as the top and bottom do not look like they belong together.
This is our final digipack... as you can see it is a huge change from the first draft as we needed to create more synergy.
We also got a focus group to view our music video. Here it is...
I created a questionnaire for people to answer after a screening. These are a few of the results and a few watching our video...
This is feedback from a ex GBHS media student who is now involved in the music industry...
Avenue - Monday Morning (Final) – A really clear beginning middle and end. A well thought out video with endearing performances from the band with great lip-sync and fun energy. The comedy was well balanced and the video continued to develop as new scenes played out, helping to drive the story through.
I also created a survey for people to give more detailed responses... I also sent it our to more people as it was easier to access them through email.
Here is the responses a collected...
This is some feedback from fellow media students. The questioned i ask throughout are shown before the people answer them. We learned that some shots are not liked and feel out of place. For example the forest shots. A few people said that this could be changed.

Arangement of my Blog
I wanted my blog to match all my music video, website and Digipak to continue with the synergy throughout this project. In order to do so i have continued the colour scheme which is found in all of the other platforms. I have used green as the main colour which is found in the title and on the links in each post this was because in the band green was my colour. I have also used blue and red in the other links to continue this theme. I have also used a photograph of the band in the background of the blog this is to continue this synergy and to immediately show the band. Which this project was about. I used a low opacity blog background to the background image of the group members. I have also used labels to make things easier to find.

Digipack - Lyric Part Inspiration
Two albums that i own at home both have this scrippled, doodle-esk writing within their digipack booklets within them, i really liked this informal style to the booklets, breaking the mold of the regimented nature of the media.
I wanted it to be on our digipack to bring that informality of the group across also a design aspect that looks different form the average load of typography.
Digipack - CD Inspiration
I really like the simple aspect to CD designs, everyone in the class was doing pictures all over their CD's and i wanted our groups to be different, not just following the crowd of pictures on the CD because i know for a fact a lot of CD's within albums don't actually have pictures on them, instead they do just have the songs and the band names and maybe some logos of the band or a design of some sorts, rarely they are actually photos.
Evidence of filming- Gym Scene
Here is some evidence of filming in the gym scene.
Foley
The create our intro and outro we had to create foley. In the track above the first part is pen sounds as our original intro idea was Joe writing the song name and the name of the band on a piece of paper, this idea was scrapped however we kept the foley to refer to in our evaluation. Other foley in this clip includes knocking, folder slapping and shouting.
Magazine Cover
Here is the finished magazine cover. We chose to use the bands colours in the background along with a fun picture of the group members in order to show the genre of the group. The collection and images and text is typical of Q magazine.

Feedback for Peers Websites
Below is the feedback i gave the other groups for there website first drafts.
Tori Lorent
The image is really clear and sharp and the setup looks extremely professional with the navigation bar at the top.
I think it would look more professional if there wasn’t a personal quote on the home page and maybe if there was a description about the website and the artist.
Try to use a higher variety of images in the gallery. There is 4 in the same location.
Change URL.
Overall a really elegent website.
7
Stellato
First thoughts aren't great. You have some really nice photos on the home page however the slide show is way too fast and the images are all different sizes. It makes my eyes hurt. The slideshow will work better if it is a lot slower.
Entrance to website isn’t obvious. Didn’t even see the link in the corner.
On entrance to the website the layout is quite chaotic however the images and text complement each other nicely.
The layout of the gallery needs improving. They're all different sizes and are not coherent.
Overall, it's just a little work on layout and it will be really good!
3
Luella
The tiled background is an eye sore. The boxes are a good idea however they start halfway down the home page so should be adjusted.
I really like the navigation bar at the top with the logo.
Overall, change the background and sort out the layout. Has potential though!
4
Sempa
There is a big pace on the home page. I scrolled down and was very confused.
Create a box to put the text in. The images are poor as well.
Lots of unfinished pages.
1
Ivory
Brilliant modern looking opening image.
The text is quite hard to read at the bottom of the home page.
The amazon, itunes, google boxes are all different sizes and different size spaces apart from each other.
The title on the news page is too far to the left.
Overall, the layout is lovely and detail of text is fabulous.
Heidi
I don't like the home page image. Heidi is out of focus which isn’t great as she should be the focal point.
Bio has a good amount of information.
The photos move too slowly and you can speed them up of skip pictures.
I don't like the blog style layout. I prefer seperate pages.
Love the title at the top and the nav bar.
Overall, think about the images you use.
7
MYA
I like the funky transition as you scroll.
Home page is nice. You might want to think about giving a bit of information about the artist.
On the about me part. You could do it in third person as it might look more professional.
I prefer the separate pages rather than the blog style layout. But i guess that is just personal preference.
7
Avenue
3 very similar sections.
They arent hi res images. Learn what hi res means
Some useless boxes. Go to contact.
St. Dizier
The navigation bar is too small, the words are too small.
The latest news is really cool.
I love how the text is organised so it looks hand written.
The layout is really good. I like the separate pages rather than the blog style.

Feedback for Peer Video First Drafts
Below is the feedback i gave other groups for the first draft of there music videos.
Tori Lorente
I liked the opening with the lights i thought that the duplications matched to the beat well giving a good effect. The locations you have used are slightly boring and not iconic. At Hylands House you had a giant house to sing in front of but you used one of the pillars to stand against instead. There is also a leave colour effect in this part which seems pretty useless in combination with the rest of the video. Overall i would say to improve the video think of why you are doing things and what they bring to the video.
Sempa
I like the overall feel of the video. The black flashes seem slightly overuse and loose there impact as it continues throughout the song. I wouldn't reuse the same clip in the chorus although it looks really cool. Either make a new clip with the drawings of try something else.
Annika
The video is shot really nicely with a fluent combination of shots. I really liked the shots of the trumpet with the low angle shots giving it power. The only improvements would probably be to see if you can add any short narrative parts to line up with the lyrics.
AVA
I really liked the theme of being young and going out and about to fairs and baking with your sister etc. The video didn't flow well for me and some of the lip syncing was poorly used. To improve i would suggest you have a separate darker location of the singer to do the lip syncing and all the rest with the fun shots cut away from the main performance. I think this will give the video a nostalgic feel.
Iuris
Really cool song, obviously not completed taking into account there are all black parts. I really like how you have some of the leave colour as a main theme in your video its quite impactive and poignant. To improve the video i would try and find a better more impactive shot to find when the drop comes in because it seems kind of wasted at the moment.
Ivory
This video is stunning so far. I really like the idea of the singer over time getting crazier and i really like the idea. To improve i would probably find some good editing to match up to the beat of the song possibly like an opacity drop could be effective. Overall, not a lot to improve, really good video.
Luella
I like the idea you have with the narrative. I think domestic violence is a good topic to take and it works well with the song. To improve i would suggest that you are more creative with camera angles and think about who is being represented in each shot. The audience positioning is important because it displays the emotions they should have for each character. Better editing could be used to make it feel more like a music video rather than a short story. I would suggest try to do more cuts to make it snappier when the girl is packing her things to leave. This will make her seem in more of a rush as her abusive boyfriend is on the way home.

Feedback for Peers Digi Pack
Below is the feedback i gave to other groups on their Digipaks.
Tori Lorente
At first glance it is clear that the images have been stretched so i would try to crop these images. Really like that bottom right image. Obviously far from completed with bourders etc.
3
Sempa
I really like the look of the images. The effects look great and really work for the artist. I feel as though the bottom right image is too clean and should follow the trend of having effects on it.
8
Heidi
I like the polaroid images in the top right and the colours really work well for the artist. The boarders are way too big unfortunately and look slightly bland because they are just plain colours.
8
Annika
They are nice images however i do not like the font of the song names. Theres not a lot else i can say as it is not completed.
5
AVA
I really like the collage of the logos. The idea of the song titles on the note pad is really cool. It isn't completed and the duplication images look quite unprofessional, which could work for your artist.
4
Iuris
I like the little pictures and the box idea. It might look better if the boxes were square however this might take away some of the image quality.
9
Ivory
Well selected images of Tilly which work well for the artist. The images are all the wrong size as they're not square. The bottom left image of the trees doesn't link well with the rest of the digipack.
7
Luella
The images are all really nice and i like the warm feel it has. If i were to change anything it would be the font of the text.

Intro and Outro Planning
I had the idea to bring a loose narrative into the music video via an intro and outro clip. The narrative would be that a worker is daydreaming at his boring 9 to 5 job and a folder is slammed on his desk and he opens it and it has the band name and song inside "AVENUE - MONDAY MORNING" and then the rest of the video ensues and then at the end the video fades to black and fades out of black to the same scene but the worker opens the folder and it is just filled with the usual corporate paperwork.
Beginning shot :
Beginning shot :
- Foley of the background noise of office environment.
- Bird Eye View Top down shot from high angle, slightly in front of the workers head so the shot isn't taken up by the top of the head and instead just the hands and sleeves. Full frame is to be taken up by desk.
- Office worker has hands clasped, twiddles his thumbs, taps the desk etc and then a yellow folder (to match the one in the video) is slammed on the desk.
- Voice heard in background " Get me those spreadsheets by the end of the day!"
- Worker opens folder and the first page is the band name and song title for the video, use label pictures for synergy across website and digipack.
- Spin up for spin up transition into the rest of the music video.
End Shot :
- Fade in from black.
- Voice shouting in background amongst office environment foley "Joseph stop daydreaming".
- Worker re-opens folder and it is filled of corporate paperwork.
Filler Shot/Pick Ups Planning
Folder Hand Over
Below is a gif of the folder hand over shot that we want to reshoot, maybe as a close up, extreme close of hands connecting with the folder, kind of like Quentin Tarantino style, with his really close up cut away.
Have to make sure to get the action exactly the same ::: JK reaches out with his right hand and grabs folder from Harry who is passing it with his righthand.
Coffee Hand Over
Oliver hands the Coffee cup to Jk with his right hand and pours coffee into the mug with his left. Should get a extreme close up of the coffee pouring and water turning to coffee in the cup.

Intro and Outro Inspiration
Below is a video of Wes Anderson shots from his plethora of films, where the camera angle is completely pointed downwards, a birds eye angle, of the desk or whatever is below.
This style of filming is something I really like because its so refreshing to the eye after seeing so much "normal" visual imagery and I think it would be really good to include in our video.
My thoughts are to use this as a filming style for an intro and outro to the video.

Front Cover Inspiration
Below is inspiration that I found for the front cover of the album/digipack, I was struggling to try and find the colourful creative feel of the band and replicate it onto the digipack design. I google searched images and found this Robin Thicke album cover.
It inspired my design because there are three images of him on the cover, our band contains three people and gave me the idea of how to present them behind the frontman, which is JK. And then my play on the colouring was to instead of just copying green and red colour of Robin Thickes cover, we decided to run with the colour of the hand prints on the bands faces rather than filter them completely through a colour.

Poster Development
This is the first poster i came up with. The image was really clean and it felt like we was walking out of the poster. You could clearly see all three members with Jk at the front as he is the main artist. All the information i needed could be put around us so none of the writing would cover us. Secondly the title was bold and the dates were clear.
I had the idea of using the bridge shot however we looked a but fuzzy as we was quite far away. I used this text as it links to our digi pack. The tour dates are difficult the read on the plants therefore this idea couldn't be used. The date need to be clear and displayed well. The shot does look nice and is in our video again.
The 4th idea i had was using a shot down the avenue as this was our first scene. furthermore i used the smoke bomb and cloned this in as Nathan was going to use this on 8r digipack. This gave me nice space to write all the dates and the title. The concrete make a nice space for the tour title to go and it stood out. However we decided the smoke didn't work on the digi pack or poster so we did not use this in the end.
As the colours made it hard to read the text due to all the colour we had the idea of putting in a block colour background so the dates could be displayed. Also we added in the smoke still around the edged to create the synergy needed. This text was more formal and bold however this didn't match our theme through website and digipack.
This was my second ides of using us in the play ground but there was not that much space for text so I cloned the pavement more but this looked out of place. I like there quality of this photo and we all looked the same. Its is in our music video therefore people wold know the link.
Label Maker Idea
Below is the link to the website that generates the vintage labels that i used on my digipack to give off that vintage feel, that 70's older generation vibe, where everybody had a label maker.
We used these vintage labels across all of our media to have synergy across everything to do wth the band; the digipack, the website and in the video.

Teacher Feedback on DigiPack 1st Draft
Below is the feedback from Mrs Field and Mrs Brookes on my groups digipack (1st Draft).
The smoke bomb collage is ugly and doesn't synergies with the three images above and it distracts from the nice images on the front and back cover of the digipack.
The fonts need to be the same on the back and the front covers.
Find another picture of Olly where he doesn't look so "zoned out"
So what i am going to do is assess what we can do to still incorporate the smoke within the digipack for synergy from the video but in a way that makes it look more like smoke and not a "little chef table" or a "hospital gown" in the collage state that it is currently in.
Also for the text i want to make the word appear as if from an old label maker to mix in the vintage vibe that comes along with the modern sounds of the band.

Music Video 1st Draft Feedback
Below is the feedback from our class, teachers and an ex student who is now a music video director.
Avenue first draft: love the way the background is out of focus at the start and at 40 seconds when there’s blurry grass in the foreground! good quality footage makes a big difference! the ending is great, it really builds up into that finale. when the words appear, i think it might look better if they were in the same split box effect with the black border as 2:36 and 2:40 instead of just overlaid? I feel like when the words come up at an angle it looks a bit unprofessional and less bold than if it was in the same effect as the other clips or even if it was just all bold across the centre of the shot like “head” and “paint”. really fun to watch! really original!
Avenue:
This is just awesome. So many clever little setups, expertly performed - genuinely funny (which is probably the hardest thing to pull off). Some great camera work, love the roundabout idea. The whole smoke bomb sequence onwards is bloody genius, the smoke matching the ties, the split screen and the cheeky end shot in the media labs. Top bloody marks!
Avenue: We got full top mark ticks from this student. Also the student said editing is amazing and is simple but makes the video. End shot needs improving.
Avenue: We got top mark ticks. Level four they stated. Also again they said end shot is needed to be changed and one or twos shots throughout.
Avenue: Top mark ticks, level 4, Amazing.
Avenue: They said Monday Morning isn't a good name for our video. They liked the walking shots. They didn't like the subway background as it looked grimy. Also close-ups looked excellent. The split screen they were torn on.
Avenue: The unfocused shot on the first scene needs to be corrected. Low angle shots were not in time. Walk through forest needed to be sped up. They also said they were a bit dull. JK jumped a little higher after smoke bomb scene.
Avenue: Good video and holds enough interest throughout.
Avenue: just change ending.
Avenue: 1st alley shot is not good quality, level 4. 'Mad effects' and fluent theme.
Avenue: Out of focus first shot. The editing they liked. Don't like the subway shot. Don't understand walking through forest shot. They liked the colours of the playground and the theme red, green and blue. Don't like the drama studio shots. Don't like the ending shot. Could have birds eye view shot.
Avenue: Love every part. little out of sync in science room.
Avenue: Change colour of Olly's tie.
Avenue: Love the colour theme. The idea of the photo shot transition just needs reshooting.
Avenue: Don't like montage of shots together. i love all other shots especially powder paint.
Avenue: Don't get walking through forest. Camera shakes sometimes. 37/40
Avenue: Don't like parts with words.
Avenue: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. the forest scene doesn't fit. The unfocused first shot looks out of place.
Avenue: Pretty flawless. Camera does shake on occasions and a couple shots loom a bit false/out of place.
Avenue: Like correlation with paint and lyrics. Transitions are cool. Favourite is 360 degree shot. Some shots unsteady, not sure about text over faces.
Avenue: This is so good. The colours are really vibrant and is enjoyable. The beginning shot goes out of focus and at times the camera shakes and moves too quickly.

Digipack (1st Draft) Feedback from Peers
Below is the feedback from my class on the first draft of the digipack...
Avenue – the images of all the band at the top looks really good with the text over their faces. The background for the bottom images looks good and works with the bands image. 8
Avenue· Like the colour clouds
· Don’t understand the CD
· Coloured hands on faces look good
· Don’t get the song name
· Don’t get all the writing over the faces
Avenue
The front cover is appealing straight away and the photo is really good. I don’t think the powder background really matches the digipack. The text on the back with the songs is a bit difficult to see and the font doesn’t really match the other font on there. The writing across their faces are cool but it means you can’t see the faces of the artists but the colours look good with the black and white. There is not much consistency with the colour scheme. I don’t think the spines match either. really nice as it is bright and eye catching. Although along with it being unfinished, on the back cover he titles of the songs can be a bit difficult to read, and maybe need to be made bolder.
2/10
Avenue
I like the idea that you have with the smoke that goes around the edges. I also like the vibrancy and brightness that you have throughout the photos.
To improve the Digipack though I would make the top of Digipack match the bottom better meaning it isn’t as consistent as it could be. Also where the lyrics go over the top of the spines you can’t see part of the words, so maybe change the background images. 7/10
Avenue
Really like the images, looks highly professional. It is very confusing for the eyes, as there is a lot going on – but is that to match with the music video? I like how each artist represents a different colour, however I don’t like the blue and pink background, as I think it looks a bit random. Overall, however, looks very good and professional. (Level 3)
Avenue
I like the top three pictures where it is the boys where the lyrics cover their faces as I like the black and white and then the pop of colour on their faces. I think there is a big difference between the top row of photos and the bottom row of faces and it looks quite messy. I like the front cover but personally don’t really like the background you have used on the bottom row of photos. I think the text on the list of songs on the album should maybe be in a bolder colour so that it stands out more. I think the colour of the cd which is grey doesn’t go with the theme of the digipack or the yellow writing on the CD. The yellow writing on the CD should maybe be changed to either red, blue or green so that it matches with the rest of the digipack.
AVENUE – Really like the 3 pictures of the guys in top however it makes it confusing with all the writing over their faces. Other than that I think it is really great as it highlights their synergy and how the guys are really like. LEVEL 3
Avenue
The 3 photos of the band are effective because it means we instantly know that they are ‘all together as one’. Furthermore, the image in the bottom corner is humours which portrays the bands image effectively. However, I feel the font on the front cover of the digipack could be massively improved and really undermines the creativity.
Avenue- I love this digipak, it all matches well and the colours blend well with each other. To improve the CD could have a bit more design on it.
Avenue:
Needs arranging properly but the design is good however the picture for the back cover needs moving. 7

Halfway Evaluation Feedback
Everyone gave back information and feedback on which parts and aspects of our video we could improve on.
Video - Many people liked our video and said there wasn't much we could do. someone said the shots were a bit similar and we should try and vary this is the rest of the filming. Everyone said they would watch our video again. Also the outfits we have used people liked the look of and the image we have created. The use of the colours in the background and the atmosphere we have made people really enjoyed. furthermore people said the shots were very good persistently and photos we have are good to use. Lastly, one said that there were too many shots in the drama studio.
Digi pack - Our digi pack was not completed at this stage so we had a lot of feedback about what we could do and improve upon our digi pack. We have idea that we presented and people agreed with the ideas we had. The logo we put on people liked and was effective.
Website - The photos we used in the website everyone liked and the colours made the page pop. The links we had were hard to read so quite a few people said to change the writing to make them clear for everyone.
Brand image - The group liked the friendly happy vibe we created in our work. Also the group liked how we carried this out through all our platforms. One said we needed to stop swearing. Finally people said again that they liked our suits.
Everyone but said they would view our video again.

Final Chorus Edit Trial
In this post i will evaluate the editing technique we are considering to use in the final chorus of the music video. We had the idea of using different boxes and playing different footage in different boxes with the colours of the band in the spare boxes.
In the first box part i felt the size of the main video for the section was too small so i am going to make this bigger. In the third part the main box is a lot larger than in the first part and it looks a lot better.
Another aspect we might change is making the lines between each box white instead of black. This is because some of our footage has a black background and the lines aren't very clear.
In regards to the coloured boxes. I am thinking we could make a colourful animation of a moving pattern to put in these sections as they look too plain at the moment.
Our teacher feedback also suggested we put text into the video to line up with the lyrics especially in the coloured boxes.
Overall, we are going to use this idea however we are going to make some alterations.

Production Diary
20/09/2016 - First meeting of the group after being told we were together. We sat down and wrote out all our decisions for our songs.
We each put down our ideas onto a sheet and narrowed it down to a selection of songs. We then noted down some shots and ideas that we definitely want to be shown in the video.
22/09/2016 - we did our presentation in class of our final three contenders of music video songs. The final contenders were Limits Lie by Jamie T, Pressure by Tensnake and He is the same by Jon Bellion. We did our presentation and the class decided that Pressure and He is the same are the best ones to do the music video to and right now our group have decided to run with pressure and are going to continue planning for that video and decide then if we can pull it off.
26/09/2016 - Today we are looking at the lyrics to the video and deciding what kind of shots we can get to go with those verses, we also we're planning out times that none of us were free so we can work with those days and finally i am creating a Steel-O-Matic video. We have decided that we want to have all the planning done by the end of this week so we are ready to shoot.
27/09/2016 - Today we discussed an idea about what our video should include, basic shots and costumes. As we now know the locations Joe has started to write out a risk assessment for each location. Harry has done research on the website and what we should include. Taking screenshots of similar website that he liked and showing what part we would try and include. Also we created and character profile of what each person should be wearing and props need through each shot.
29/09/2016 - In todays lesson we firstly decided on when we would start filming the music video which is Wednesday 5th October. We decided that in this session we would film the opening of the music video as this is our longest shot which includes the most detail. We plan to have our main character walking down a road for a 30 second period singing and dancing to the first verse of the song. We also completed our locations list for when we go on our location recce on Monday 3rd October. We also started to consider band names in this lesson.
30/09/2016 - In todays lesson, we had thoughts on what our band name would be, this is an important part of the process and took quite some time. We didn't decide fully on what the name would be but we had some idea's such as "L9" and "T.C.F.S." but we didn't decide in the lesson. In this lesson Harry continued with the website research whilst Olly and Joe completed a props list.
03/10/2016 - Today at 5 Olly and Nathan went on a Location Recce to find some places to shoot our music video. We found some great locations such as First avenue in Chelmsford which is a nice long road which the band could walk down. We also went and looked at locations which we decided wouldn't be so great such as the Graffiti Wall in Chelmsford town centre. Overall, we were pleased with the outcome of our Location Scout. We also came up with some idea's which are going to alter the narrative involved in the video. One of these ideas was that we could make the video based around time of day starting in the morning when someone wakes up and going through to the night time.

04/10/2016 - Today we did a practice take for our opening sequence. We ran through the dance moves, the camera angles and movement and also the editing process. By doing this practice we assessed the technicalities of the sequence. For example, the opening shot of the zoom might be avoided as it looked to unstable and we thought cutaways might look more professional.
05/10/2016 - Today was our first day of filming. We took a trip into Chelmsford to our first location fifth avenue and filmed our opening sequence. We had the first scene planned out in our heads. We gathered all the equipment needed and got into ollies car and set off. We did go to first avenue first but the road was too busy therefore we had to pack back up and go to fifth. This was a much better location as it was less busy. We could set up in the road and have a couple of tries. We has to wait for the clouds to move a few times. Afterwards we went to the bridge over the river that was near fifth avenue. We has some random ideas to shot as filler shots. On the walk back to the car we found a playground and decided to shot a couple of scenes in here.
06/10/2016 -Today we shot our interview for MTV. This consisted of Nathan being the presenter and then Jk, Harry and Olly being interviewed. We got across the same idea our song we have chosen to do. This was no too serious and fun. Olly started editing this as we filmed a full 11 minutes of interview which had to be cut down and put together as some parts was general discussion. This was great fun to shot. Harry has also completed the Digi pack research of similar artist to us and different ideas we want to include. Jk has made all of our social media accounts today.
07/10/2016 - Today the MTV video was finished, this took time as there was 10 minutes worth of footage which had to be cut down the three minutes, I also filtered out the swearing and added backing music. Joe continued working on the Website which is coming along nicely, he also continued to post on the social media to help create a realistic platform for our band. Harry worked on the blog, posting location and prop lists.
10/10/2016 - Today was the first day after the weekend break. Harry started and finished the textual of a similar music video. Talking about camera, mise en scene, editing and sound. This gave us more inspiration form our own video. Jk is working on our Avenue website which is looking great. He has involved many different aspects to the website. Also Jk is making an avenue t-shirt. Olly has produced a neater MTV script which we used in the interview. Nathan has planned out our shooting schedule and started our story board for our music video. Drawing each shot and how long each part will be.
11/10/2016 - Today we got in early and started filming in the drama studio. We had to bring in paint and all wear blue jeans and a white t-shirt. We had a black background and then used the lights in the drama studio and it looked like we were performing as a band. Harry had a key board, Jk had a microphone and ollie had a bass guitar. We sung along to the parts we haven't got footage for so we can put in little sections that cuts to use performing. Nathan was filming use performing. Olly and Nathan then uploaded all the footage we had and started editing. Jk is working on our logo.
12/10/2016 - Today we filmed in the science rooms. We played close attention to mise en scene and made sure the colours were all perfect. For example we placed three test tubes next to each other and put food colouring in each of them for each band members colour and even put them in the same order we were standing in on the video.
13/10/2016 - Today Olly did a lot of the editing for the video trying to use the footage from the science room and incorperate it into the timeline. JK worked on the Logo whilst Harry and Nathan got up to date on blog work.
14/10/2016 - Today the focus was getting all of the blog work up to date and planning the filming for next week. Olly sent out an email to the sports department to ask when the gym was free for one of our shots.
18/10/2016 - Today we went to shot in the dance studio. This was a full suit shoot again and in glasses and hats. We had us sitting down and then we did a load of random dancing. Then Nathan uploaded the footage and started editing. Olly did a few blog post and so did Jk.
20/10/2016 - Today Harry aded photos to our group photo album. Jk researched other artists logos so we could get inspiration from This to try and think of our own logo for Avenue. Olly and Nathan did a talking walk through of our story board and then uploaded this to edit it and piece it together. Also in the green room Olly and Nathan produced some foley for the writing on paper right at the start of the our music video.
31/10/2016 - This was the first day back after half term. We all looked at the video to refresh our memories about what we had done and what needed doing. Jk got on with the half way evaluation after this which was more of a presentation with a voice over. Olly got on with editing. Nathan got on with the story board and narration over this. Harry did a risk assessment for the science room and finalised some blog work.
01/11/2016 - Today the group worked on basic blog posts to get up to date with what needed doing. Olly also looked at more editing he could do and the footage we had recently shot to see if any good parts were missed.
02/11/2016 - Today we went back to the avenue to film. Harry, Olly and Jk where back in suits. We also did a photo album for our digi pack and got a few photos we could use. When we got back Nathan and Olly uploaded the footage to the computer and we all watch through it. Then we all got on with blog post and kept up to date with what needed doing. We also went to locations around the avenue and got a bit more footage that could be used.
03/11/206 - Today Olly got on with editing the footage from yesterday and put this all together. Harry got photos from each filming day and put together a photo album for all our photos of filming and us working away. Also did a few separate ones foe evidence of filming. Jk produced and continued a prezi for our half way evaluation. Nathan was producing an idea for our video. Also discussed with Olly the plans for our video.
4/11/2016 - Today we had to present our halfway evaluation to the class. We showed what we had for our video and all the other aspects such as website, digi pack, brand image and general information about our band. The class then filled out and sheet to give us feedback on what we could improve on, broken up into each section and how that could be improved. We also watched other groups presentation and gave them feedback.
8/11/2016 - Today we had to look at other classes presentation as they wanted more feedback. We had a good discussion about these and the pother groups benefited from this. At the end we had 15 minutes to finish off blog posts.
10/11/2016 - Today we discussed our group directions and what needed doing again so we could get back on track. Olly mapped put a rough draft on a bit of paper. It gave us all jobs to complete and what we needed to do. We all got back together and were one, once again. After this meeting we all went to our stations and got on with what we needed to do. Jk looked through photos and added to the website. Olly went to complete and finalise the magazine Avenue featured on. Nathan got ideas and started producing our digi pack. Harry got on with blog posts such as feedback.
14/11/2016 - Today was first day back after the weekend and we had plans. Jk updated our website adding photos and making it look better from the feedback we got. Harry got on with feedback from halfway evaluation. Also added photos to the photo album. Nathan added photos to our digi pack to make it more completed and added details. Olly did some touches to our music video and made the magazine cover for Avenue.
15/11/2016 - Today we planned out the filing for tomorrow. We did practise shots of jumping off the chair and shots of the smoke scene. We needed to plan out what we was doing exactly as we only had 2 of each colour smoke bomb and they only last about 30 seconds therefore everything had to be perfect in 2 stakes. We put together a YouTube video of our practise. we also had an idea of doing the Oliver twist side jump where you tap your feet together. Also sliding off a chair which look very good.
16/11/2016 - Today was the big scene we had been planning and had thought of for ages. The sky was blue the sun was out and the grass was green. It was a perfect day to shot. We got suited and booted up then strolled over the back field. We had a few practises with the smoke bombs in hand but not lighting them. Then we filmed through running and what lyrics we needed to sing. The first take we had was through the smokes bombs and planned on jumping through but the wind was high and they didn't reach the height we was thinking. After this we regrouped and then planned to hold them and dance about which looked very good as well. the smoke was no reaching the height and we could see there clear colours.
17/11/2016 - Today Nathan was away on a uni interview so Harry, Olly and Jk got down to work with a few posts. Jk also created the website biography of the group and added the improvements that we got from the feedback. Olly also looked through the footage again to see if he could edit more and finalise the recent editing. Harry also added to the photo album from the footage yesterday and behind the scenes.
18/11/2016 - Nathan was at another uni again today so we got on with basic blog posts. Olly also made a post reflecting on the end chorus's editing idea.
22/11/2016 - Today Olly did a bit of editing as he lost some of his previous attempts. This was not planned as he thought he saved the work but this was not the case Nathan had to edit the smoke onto our digi pack which takes a lot of time. Harry updated the filming feedback and got that uploaded. Jk updated the website further from the feedback.
24/11/2016 - Today we all sat at our computers and got on with work. Nathan carried on with the digi pack and finished off the smoke cloning. Olly got on with editing of our last scenes and got it how he wanted. Jk did the website and the research for the website as he needed new ideas. Harry got on with tour poster research.
25/11/2016 - Olly sat down with our teacher and looked through the footage. They state meed what needed to be improved and changed. Each member of the group also went over and said what they felt about the music video so far. Nathan edited the digi pack and updated some of the parts which could have been better. Harry finished off a few blog posts and then started on the avenue tour poster. Jk added to the website and then tweaked the website research.
28/11/2016 - Today we got in and Olly had to add back in the footage that he had moved and then replace it back in the right position. Jk added to the website after i passed him over the photo album. This added in the gap he was worried about. Nathan had mores ideas for the digi pack and updated this. Harry did updated research on the tour poster as he needed more ideas to include.
29/11/2016 - Today Nathan finalised the digi pack as he will not be in tomorrow and that is the deadline. He stayed after school getting it up to standard. Olly was editing our video adding a few extra parts that could look better. Jk did some website research and added what he had learnt to the website. Harry made 4 drafts of a poster. Each could be used but it was jus creating the correct synergy with the digi pack, brand image and music video.
30/11/2016 - Today all our 1st draft for website, digi pack and video. Nathan wasn't in today so he finished it off yesterday and sent it to miss. Olly was in control of getting the video sorted so he added in fillers that would make up the reminder we hadn't completed yet. Therefore we are not fully happy with the ending. 06/01/2017 - 27/01/2017- Evaluations
First Avenue
Graffiti Wall
This was great fun to shot. Harry has also completed the Digi pack research of similar artist to us and different ideas we want to include. Jk has made all of our social media accounts today.

06/01/2017 - 27/01/2017- Evaluations
Location Recce 3
Below are some photographs from the third location recce where we will be filming our 'smoke bomb scene'. The first image is of the first location we looked at, we decided this location wouldn't work because there was too many trees and telegraph poles in the area. There was also a road which ran close by the field and as we were using smoke bombs we did not want to alarm any people driving past.
We found a nice secluded area which can be seen in the 2nd to 4th images. Our only query was which way to film. The images demonstrate the different possible areas.
